johnny & allison
the first time i shot allison and johnny—they were dating. and it was memorable because it was magical and in so many ways it marks the beginning of al and i’s friendship and the weekend we dreamed up hey, sista. years have passed. they’re long married now and we’ve done hey, sista 6 different times. she’s not just some girl i admire anymore—she’s in my friend family. and i’m so grateful for her and Johnny in mark and i’s lives. so we went to the place they got married and took some photos.
dust swept up off the ground, lifted in quiet dusk. the trees let intentional slivers of light through. the trees. the trees. artists demanding us to pause. the sound of the river, and brids sweeping low over green fields. the hum of the winged bugs. the coolness of the air when the sun dipped sleepily behind the mountains.
and five of us, laughing and running and spinning in the place that the two were wed. the very pines nodding in recognition—remembering the vows that had been shared. the ground a testimony to their faithfulness. a reminder of the choice and the joy.
i love them. also even better having Meagan with us (the sista boss of hair and makeup).
she glammed Allison all up and it was a real good night for the sistas.
there are some polaroid and medium format scans in this mix, too.
all the medium format stuff was developed by by husband (and he shot 99% of it, too).
he’s the greatest.
